"Are you sure you haven't done a poo"

Says nooo and shakes head again still wearing said smile

"You have, you have done a poo - Poo stink what a smell"

Gets down on floor rolls onto back and puts legs in the air

Silver!!!! (and Bronze)

Tom and I competed in the Australasian Masters games this weekend and I won a Silver Medal for my Ladies Netball side and we both won a Bronze Medal for our mixed.

Pretty good for my first effort in Masters huh! I'm stoked.

I did a lot better than I thought I would and I think I held my own, I definitely got a lot more court time too, 20 games in 4 days and I'm paying for it now. I hurt my knee the first day and was devastated but 'Mr Fixit' the sports medicine guy got me back on the court and I managed to play the rest of the games after missing only 1 game. But my whole right leg hurts worst than the rest of me from the restrictive taping. It was taped so tight that I have circular bruises around my thigh from the strapping to support my knee! I'm not showing you any photo's of that my thighs aren't pretty in the first place. Once I get some photo's back of the teams I will post one.

Now I will go collapse in my bed!!

Oh and the de-cluttering - there has been no de-cluttering yet.........

Update on Kyra

My baby girl starts full time kindy on Monday. How time flies! Now I have to get up even earlier in the morning because she has to be there at 8.30 and then obviously Jack has to be wherever he is going for the day. Thursdays will be a breeze - at least they are within 100 metres of each other!

She has more attitude than ever when she thinks she is in the right, but she is a very loving caring person (like me I think?) and last night you could have knocked me over with a feather when she just spontaneously cleaned all of the toys up off of the lounge room floor. She has a fantastic sense of humour and has recently taken a real interest in being able to write peoples names. Now she can write - Kyra, Mum, Dad, Jack, Tom. I think she would be easy to teach to read but I'm scared I will teach her wrong and stuff her up for primary school....

Update on Jack

Where do I start! Last week he was sick -
  • Saturday the gastro started
  • Monday the Dr said the gastro was easing (I stayed home from work)
  • Tuesday we were back at the Dr because his eyes were gummed up with conjunctivitis and the Dr says he now has an red ear drums but wait and see if he can't fight the infection himself (I stayed home from work and so did Dad because now Dad has gastro)
  • Wednesday the nappies were normal
  • Thursday he wasn't eating (I worked a short day)
  • Friday the runs start again
  • Saturday back at the Dr and he now has a throat infection which is upsetting his stomach because the bugs are getting a free ride to his stomach... so they gave him some anti-biotics
He is all good now. YAY! What a week. So I only worked 1 day and that day was an hour and a half short because the in-laws had him and could only have him until 3:15!!

Anyhoo this week he has come on in leaps and bounds and is fast trying to put back on the weight he lost (600g) here is a list of what he has accomplished this week

  • He said "gone" with hand signals and all - haven't managed to catch this on camera yet
  • He waves by opening and shutting his hand not just flapping his arm about
  • He tries to feed you with a spoon and thinks it's the funniest thing ever
  • He says Mama a lot more especially when he hasn't seen me for awhile and it's so cute the way he says it
  • He plays peek-a-boo with you around corners or just puts something over his face
  • He says Boo which comes out more like a raspberry with a B in front - before that when he played Boo he would say Daaaa
  • He has stopped saying Dada all the bloody time (YAY!)
  • He is letting go of things and just standing there
  • He is giving big wet open mouth kisses to everyone!
  • He is blowing kisses too (so cute)
  • He still like to bite (last one was on Kyra's bottom.... tee hee!)

That's about it I think!!

Happy Birthday Kyra

Kyra turned 4 on Monday she had a kiddies party on Saturday and a family BBQ on Monday. She had a great time and here are some photo's.... Please don't laugh at the birthday cake - I try but it's like a mountain, I blame my oven. She wanted a fairy cake and this is the best I could do

Biter

I'm devastated - Jack bites! Dropped him off at daycare today and warned them he was biting me yesterday and to keep an eye on him and they tell me he bit someone last week..... I have one of those horrid little boys!! I can't believe it

I don't know what to do, I have been telling him "No Jack we don't bite" and putting him down on the ground and ignoring him for awhile but it doesn't stop him.....

sleeping unwrapped!!

Well he is 9 months old and finally sleeping without his wrap!! 3 nights now! Yay! Not sure how he is going to go with daycare sleeps. His day sleeps are shorter now but today's has already been asleep an hour and a half so perhaps it's on the improve......

Kyra got her ears pierced yesterday but Daddy had to have his done first!! He is already considering taking it out LOL! She was a very brave girl! (sorry about the chocolate on her face but just can't keep this kids face clean!)

I nearly forgot! I got a call from work last Tuesday with a big PLEASE CAN YOU HELP! So I went in Tuesday night and Thursday and did some DP for them (I usually answer the phones but used to DP permanently) I'm also working tonight, Tuesday night and Thursday. I feel tired already..... I said I would only do Thursday of next week because Ky turns 4 on the Monday and then I'm officially back at work Tuesday the 13th of March. Boo Hoo!

so hot! so hot!

The wedding was absolutely fantastic but so bloody hot (41.5 degrees) we were just melting!! Amazingly our makeup stayed on beautifully. Vanessa just looked amazing, we had a bet that the first bridesmaid to cry had to be drink fetcher for the day - it was me, once Ness had her dress on and then Kyra...... I just couldn't hold back

We were on time to the church because we didn't want to melt the guests but we were 20 mins late to the reception because we just had to get those snaps at the beach. They honestly would have regretted it if they didn't get them. It caused a bit of stress for everyone but I think it was worth it, we will laugh about it one day. I started crying in the car again on the way to the reception because I knew just how stressed Ness was about keeping everyone waiting. Oh and the boys forgot their buttonholes and bought a box of candles instead..... Oops

Kyra was just an absolute angel and you could have knocked me over with a feather when she walked down the aisle holding Dylans hand!! I was so proud of both my kids on the day they behaved so well and so many people said how fantastic they are.... (sniff)

Very tired on Sunday and emotional from holding it all in on Saturday I think. I even stood up and spoke at the wedding, just reading telegrams but that is a big thing for me. I think all the champagne through the day gave me the guts to do that. Anyway enough rambling here are some photo's .

the differences

It's amazing how different children can be. Kyra was a beautiful baby you told her NO and she listened (still does, but argues about it) Jack just laughs at us when we say NO or he stops and then decides to do it anyway.

Kyra never - pulled at electrical cords.... played in the cats bowl.... wriggled the whole time we cuddled.... bit.... pinched..... raided my wine rack.... unpacked the nappy bag.... cleared the coffee table.... tipped over tables.... tipped over chairs.....

Is it a boy thing I wonder? Don't get me wrong I love him to bits and he is a real Mummy's boy which annoys me sometimes but I secretly love! He is just so different.... I think Kyra is going to be a thinker, Jack is going to be a doer (then think about the consequences later)

I love the funny sounds he makes I can't even describe them. I love the way his little face lights up when I get home. My favourite time of night is bath time, he hears that bath running and he is up the stairs (we have a sunken lounge) straight to the bathroom and stands at the bath trying to reach the water. Love you little man
P.S. 2 more sleeps until the wedding, Kyra is just the tiniest bit excited (so am I)

wordless wednesday - boozer

the real biggest loser - Sarah

I am so mad at Sarah from the Biggest Loser. Someone else missed out for her and as someone who has fought off my weight all my life, I would love the kind of help that she was offered.

I have recently lost 14kg in 8 months (post Jack). Post Kyra I lost 23kg and before my wedding I lost 29kg. So I know just how hard it is and to have a personal trainer and help to learn to make good healthy meals and then just walk out and leave it I can't believe it. She wont continue it at home - be real how did she get like that in the first place

daycare days

Jack had his second half day at daycare today, he seems to like it. No tears today but no sleep either, he was a tired little boy when we got home! Usually goes to sleep at 10.30 and was still awake at 1 when we got home. He has been asleep an hour now though, I'm hoping he sleeps until 4. Yeah right

I feel lost without him on a Thursday morning I keep looking for where I left the pram when I'm out, but I found time to finally have my hair coloured! Very happy, thank you to the girls at Blow Your Top! Probably having party tips put on my nails for the wedding ($25) and we have to go to the hair dresser the night before the wedding to have blue noodles put in Kyra's hair so she doesn't have to sit under the dryer for an hour on the wedding day. Wow it's coming up so fast I can't believe it's finally happening. Imagine how Ness feels!

the weekend

The hens night was a hit, I don't know what I was worried about, all the maids love Ness so much that there is no way they were going to let her down. Myself however bloody forgot the bottle of Midori I was supposed to bring and forgot to order the platters (thanks Ange)

Angela was fantastic and her house was a great spot for a party, but man was it hot!! Speaking of hot so was the stripper (will post photo later when I have retrieved my camera from Angela's). We had the usual list of questions for Vanessa that we had already asked Travis- 25 of them and she only got 4 wrong smarty pants! We gave her a dare book to fill out. Get marital advice from a divorced man, get a photo with 24 guys (and a disposable camera), find a guy named Travis see ID and get his signature, there was others but I have forgotten already. We also did a pass the parcel with a few lame dares for the crowd so it was a bit of a hot potato. A great time was had by all. I think there was a few sore heads on Sunday.

Skipping to my children... why do we bother buying all the expensive toys? Jack spent most of yesterday chasing an empty coke bottle around the room!

Just got an email from Ness she didn't get out of bed until 4.30 and stayed on the couch til 6 when she went for a dip in a friends pool!

deciphering kid speak!

On the way home from netball last night and Kyra pipes up "Mummy what are those lights on the pole that flash on and off?" it had me buggered what she meant but I finally worked it out. It's the red reflectors on the white poles on the side of the road, so I spend 10 minutes explaining to her what reflectors are....... I still don't think she gets it.

5 minutes later it's "Mummy what is that green flashy light on your car, the noisy one?" ummmmmm stumped again. OK it was the indicator so I explain that and show her how another cars indicator flashes orange on the outside to show us which way it's going. So when Mummy puts the green indicator on it flashes orange on the outside of my car.

I quote:

"No Mum it's not your car it's Dads"

OK Kyra (sigh)

too cute

Jacks first day at daycare today and Kyra was so cute!! As we are leaving they were putting Jack in the highchair for fruit time and Kyra says to the daycare ladies. "He likes to go in the high chair but sometimes he likes his bottle OK" the ladies laughed and said OK Kyra thanks for that if we need any help with Jack we will just come and see you in the Kindy room.... too cute. She loves him so much that she was all ready to have a little 'talk' to the girl that pushed Jack last week when we visited!!

So far so good he has been there 3 hours and they haven't rang me (but I rang them) so he must be having a sleep. Good boy Jack

freakin out

OK I'm freakin out, Kyra started pre-entry Kindy yesterday, the hens night is this Saturday and Jack has his first visit to daycare tomorrow I think I will only leave him two hours but he has been such a Mummys boy this week it isn't funny.

And my boss just got made redundant. I shouldn't go on maternity leave.... my last boss got made redundant last time I was on leave.

What is it with babies teeth, poor little fella doesn't want to eat or drink and won't even let me get bonjella on his gums. He is only eating when the hunger just gets too much for him but in the mean time he has worked out how to unpack Kyra's lunch box and is busy trying to pull the people out of the TV screen! There was some show on yesterday called Oobi it's peoples hands as puppets but he was bang banging at them like he does to me when we clap hands together and he was making his little look at me noises at them! Too cute.....

So I'm sitting here trying to expel some of this stress. I'm sure the hens night will be fine but it still feels like there is so much to do.

Kyra is so excited about the wedding, how does a nearly four year old know how to pose like this

Sunday, 28 January 2007

nearly four year olds

Today Kyra told my friends nieces that they weren't her 'friends' I think she meant it innocently because she hadnt met them before, she was certainly very shocked that I said that it wasn't very nice and she was ashamed of herself and didn't want to say sorry. So I spent the whole car trip home explaining to her that if she meets someone new and they are nice to her and she enjoyed playing with them then they are a new friend. I think she understood but you just never know...

Jack started crawling 2 weeks ago and now he is into everything in a way that Kyra never was! No sooner had he crawled tho that he starts standing up on the furniture and now he is starting to cruise it. It's funny how you cant wait for the first one to do everything, but with the second you realise just how fast they grow and you just don't want them to do anything quickly. My baby is growing so fast and there won't be anymore.................

Where Do I Start

I have no idea if I will ever have anything very interesting to say..... I'm a happily married mother of two rugrats. Kyra (nearly 4) and Jack (8 months) we live half an hour south of Adelaide, South Australia. I'm on maternity leave but not for much longer, I will be returning to work on the 12th of March and must admit I'm not looking forward to it.

I am not a 'house proud' person to say the least, and while my home is clean it is certainly not tidy about the only time it is is when we are having a party of some description at our house!! We are hoping to move in September/October this year to a larger home so that my lounge room is no longer the playroom for the kids. I could keep all their toys in their rooms but what is the point of having children if you shut them away all the time........

My sister gets married in 3 weeks and the hens night is in a week and I am absolutely terrified that the hens night will be an awful mess and everyone will hate it but I am also soooooooo looking forward to it. My lovely mother-in-law is coming to stay with the kids because the bucks night is the same night.
